GPS Prayer Walking

I have an idea...to walk every street in my town and pray. Now, for those of you who don't pray you might be thinking that I am a complete nutcase, but I am a Christian and believe that God cares about the people in Arbroath, and I am to show love and care as well. I believe prayer Okay, so back to the idea... I have just bought a GPS datalogger, (a Wintec WBT-201, if you're interested)which connects to GPS satellites and tracks where I go (when I have it turned on). I can then connect the GPS to my laptop when I get home and view my journey on a map. :) This alone is pretty cool, I think. Adding pictures to the map...cooler. Here's where it gets fun. I have a digital camera, and can take pictures as I walk along the streets of Arbroath. When I get home I can synchronise the pics with my GPS track using software called Gpic Sync. Then, my pictures show up on my map just where I took them. :) You've probably seen this kind of thing on Google Earth, or Google Maps. Adding prayer to the mix... My idea is to pray for the significant places on the streets I am walking - the schools, parks, shops & businesses, churches, doctors offices etc. I'll also pray for the families in the homes as I walk by. I'll take notes of the themes of my prayers, any Bible verses I read there, and any thoughts I have. These can then be added to my map when I get home. By the end of the year I aim to have walked all over Arbroath, and prayed. We'll see how it goes, but it should be a fun journey. |
